Cozy in Madewell

Happy Friday, happies! I hope you have a fabulous weekend planned! I'm getting excited about a relaxing weekend here in Greenville after my world-traveler weekend trip to Delaware with the fam last weekend.

In my last Birchbox, I got an exciting coupon to Madewell. I went with two sweaters to add to my collection. I didn't have any non-print sweaters in my collection prior to this. (I know, right?) These two are perfect for school or even a casual night out. Now that I own (yeep! love new things!) both, I would recommend going down a size from their size charts; I had to exchange both. Fortunately, Madewell has crazy fast (free right now!) shipping!

I didn't realize this when I ordered it, but the bows on this sweater are striped light and dark orange. Still love it, just good to know.

Have a very happy weekend!

Seasonal Nail Colors

I know I did a nail color post last week, but, wouldn't you know it, my at-home manicure chipped just three days later. Hate that. Chipped nails are even more obvious with dark colors, too. Hate that even more.

But this blog isn't about things I hate...so I just turned to one of my other favorite fall nail colors for my next at-home manicure attempt!

I picked up OPI's Give Me Moor! after, you guessed it, I messed up a professional manicure approximately two minutes after leaving the salon. A quick trip to Ulta fixed that and gave me one of my still-favorite nail colors for the chillier months. It's an almost-black purple that is deliciously inky.

Happy Hump Day!

Pour La Victoire Yummies

Even though I don't have too much occasion to where them, it's difficult for me to pass up a fantastic pair of pumps. Especially if they are patent leather. Especially if they have a platform.

Enter the Pour La Victoire sale on Gilt. The Irina II Pump might be perfect. Perfect with jeans on a Friday night, perfect for pairing with a black dress at a cocktail party, perfect for wearing with your robe when you walk the dog. OK, maybe not that last part.

Up.

Now.

Am I right, or am I right? If you aren't a Gilt member now, click here, and get on it.

What to Wear Where: Travel Outfit

Happy Tuesday! This week's What to Wear Where theme comes at a perfect time! I spent about 11 hours traveling and flying this past weekend, so I had a lot of time to think about what to look for in a go-to travel outfit. Keywords are: stretch, layers, and cotton.

I don't currently own jeggings, but I'm think I may have to take the plunge this fall/winter. Perfect for travel, since you need to be able to run to make your connection flight and comfy for when you're crammed in the middle seat of your row (you know it's bound to happen).

Cardigans are the perfect flying option. Easy to get off for security check points and if you get a little warm on the plane; they can also double as a blanket or pillow for longer, chilly flights.

A comfy tank top that won't make you feel stuffy while schlepping in through the terminal in a color that will distract from the fact that you're not wearing make-up. (Admit it.)

A sparkly flat that is easy to take off when you're getting through security. Also good for distracting from the no make-up thing.

What are your travel go-to's?

What did Delaware?

I don't know, Alaska! I know it's a little early in the week for cheesy state humor, but I'm hoping it somewhat makes up for my MIA status since last week. The reason for my absence was a trip to visit my little brother at the University of Delaware! He's a freshman and plays on the lacrosse team...it was fun to see him (and the rest of my family) in his new element!

A big blue hen in one of the athletic buildings...intimidating, right?

My brothers and I in front of middle bro's locker. It was cool to see the locker room, but cracking a smile was a little tough. Sweaty boys =  STINKY locker room!

Defensive players huddling during the fall scrimmage. My brother is the goalie. When they huddled, it looked like they were hugging each other...so cute! My mom and I kept trying to catch them in the huddle, but they usually broke apart too soon. This fuzzy one was the best we could get.

Brothers and I after the scrimmage. They're bigger than me now!

One of the best parts of the trip: U Dairy Ice Cream! Ice cream made from the University's dairy cows...I went with Holy Fluffernutter (peanut butter, marshmallow fluff, chocolate chips). Dee-lish!

Have a happy week!

What to Wear Where: Pumpkin Patch

Hi there! Forever29 is hosting this week's What to Wear Where, and it's a cute one! What says fall more than a trip to the pumpkin patch?? I have my own thoughts about pumpkin decorating (Just Say No to Pumpkin Guts), but that doesn't mean I'd pass up an opportunity to get cute pictures amid the pumpkins!

Here are my thoughts for this week's theme:

I capital-L-love this outfit! It's so simple, yet pulled together. Cute, but not too fussy. What are you wearing to the pumpkin patch this year? I don't know that I'll be carving a pumpkin, but I've been thinking of pulling together a pumpkin painting party...a little less pumpkin guts, a little more glitter. Just my style :)

At-Home Manicure

Happy Monday! I had a relaxing weekend, which is exactly what I needed. I also finally got my hair cut and highlighted after five months! Very exciting stuff.

I also tackled the at-home manicure on Sunday afternoon, which is no small feat for this right-hand-only gal. I've always bitten my nails, so when I finally allowed them to grow almost to the tips of my fingers, I figured I would reward myself with some pretty new nail polish. Here's what I went with:

I love dark nail colors because they always looks better on shorter nails...which, conveniently, I always have! Seriously, they're usually nubbins. I think it's a testament to how happy I am at my new school that I haven't been chewing them every other second. Hunter green is really popular this fall, too, so I get to participate in a trend for less than $10! Ka-ching! Essie's Stylenomics is awesome, an almost-black green.

I've read and watched tutorials on how to give yourself an at home manicure, but the only thing that really works for me is taking a really long time and using a nail polish remover pen. I seriously take like  two hours from start to finish to make sure that the polish is really dry before moving to my second hand.

Here's the finished product on my left hand:

Happy polishing!
