Alcove Beds

I've always loved finding a cozy spot to curl up. I remember when I was little and we would watch movies as a family, I would gather all the blankets and pillows I could find to make a "nest" on the floor. I loved feeling like a little bird in my nest, so comfy and nestled in.

Alcove beds are like a grown-up nest! Aren't these just the coziest spots you could think of? They're just waiting for a cup of tea and a good book.

I love the cottage feel. I want to sleep there and have someone read me a bedtime story!

A more modern take. It needs a blanket, but otherwise it's the perfect place for a cat nap...I bet it even gets sun!

This makes me think of Marie Antoinette. Fabric on walls is so decadent (mental note: put fabric on the walls!)

There are many more of these beauties here. Don't you want an alcove bed?! I'm off to make a nest...

I'm Alive!

Hello all! I'm still alive! I've never left off with the blogging for so long since I started this blog...which makes me a little sad. Not really sure why it's been so long, but I'm back!

As penance, I'll leave you with this:

Yes, that would be my four-pound nugget dog in candy cane pajamas. Someone is ready for Santa!

Baby, It's Cold Outside

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend! I had a busy, but fun, one. Engagement party for friends, a Clemson win, brunch on Sunday...doesn't get much better in my book! Of course, we're doing it all over again in a few days when Clemson plays South Carolina!

The Clemson-South Carolina game will be our first (and only) home game at night this year. When I was shivering on Saturday night, I began to think about my outfit for a week later, when the game wouldn't even be starting until 7:00! I'm originally from Florida, so temperatures under 55 degrees still send my teeth a-chattering.

On my wishlist for next week...

Gloves like these:

A scarf like this:

In a perfect world, earmuffs like these:

Santa, if you're listening, I'd love an early visit. Help a chilly girl out!

I've got a busy weekend coming up with a friend's engagement party and the second to last Clemson home game...exciting stuff! I'll leave you with this precious nugget picture that makes me want to stay in and cuddle:

Have a great weekend!

Stove Top Potpourri

Have you ever walked in your house or apartment and noticed that it just doesn't smell that fresh? Living in a one bedroom apartment means that if I decide to cook beef and broccoli, my whole place smells like it for the rest of the night. Same thing goes for if I forget to run the garbage disposal after cooking. Not the worst smell in the world, but definitely not what you want to come home to after a long day at school.

Well Pinterest has come to the rescue yet again! This pin has been circulating for a while, and I finally gave it a shot.

I love the mix of the lemon, rosemary, and vanilla extract...it's a citrusy, herby,  sweet mixture that is just enough of everything you want in your home fragrance. I really think that if you left out one of the ingredients, it would be too one-note.

Of course, when I looked in my cabinets, I had everything on hand except for fresh rosemary. Dried rosemary worked just fine, but I'm sure fresh would've been even better.

Try this now!

What to Wear Where: Halloween Edition

Happy early Halloween! Today's What to Wear Where theme is Halloween, and I have a confession. Halloween costumes aren't really *my thing*. I'm always impressed when people come up with creative, theme-y costumes, but I always get costume-block when it comes down to thinking of something. So, instead of anything costume-y, I thought I'd go with what I'd like to wear while sipping a hot chocolate on the couch with a blanket and waiting for trick-or-treaters to come a-knockin'.

Elbow patches. 'Nuf said.

Pretty little lacy cami peeking through the holes in the chunky sweater makes things a little more delicate.

Ruffled Foldover Legging, $68
Again, I am a member of team leggings-as-pants. Ruffles and the foldover add interest.

Dainty pink slippers are good for one thing: walking from the kitchen to the couch with handfuls of (calorie-free) candy. Yes, many people don't know it, but candy is actually all calorie-free on October 31st every year.

I know this isn't the most "fashionable" outfit in the world, but if you try to tell me you wouldn't want to lounge in this tomorrow evening instead of being out in Sandy-pocalypse, I will call you a liar.

Happy Halloween, happies! Be safe and get lots of candy!

Cozy in Madewell

Happy Friday, happies! I hope you have a fabulous weekend planned! I'm getting excited about a relaxing weekend here in Greenville after my world-traveler weekend trip to Delaware with the fam last weekend.

In my last Birchbox, I got an exciting coupon to Madewell. I went with two sweaters to add to my collection. I didn't have any non-print sweaters in my collection prior to this. (I know, right?) These two are perfect for school or even a casual night out. Now that I own (yeep! love new things!) both, I would recommend going down a size from their size charts; I had to exchange both. Fortunately, Madewell has crazy fast (free right now!) shipping!

I didn't realize this when I ordered it, but the bows on this sweater are striped light and dark orange. Still love it, just good to know.

Have a very happy weekend!

Tufted Headboard Lust

When I moved out of my first Nashville apartment (I've lived in a different apartment/house every year since for the last 5 years...I've gotten pretty good at packing my life), I had to leave behind a white wicker headboard that matched my bedside tables. Well, "left behind in frustration after it wouldn't cram in my VW Bug" may be more appropriate phrasing than "had to leave behind".

Anywho, ever since I've lusted after tufted headboards. They just bring such an elegant cushiness (that's a thing) to a bedroom. I would feel very refined resting my head against one while reading InStyle magazine something by Tolstoy. They are plenty expensive from what I've seen, but there are also plenty of DIYs online...maybe one day I can sweet talk the bf into building me one.

Love them all! I may need a nap after ogling all that elegant cushiness (I said it's a thing).

Friday Happies

Here are a few things that are making me happy right now...

My little nugget chewing his raw hide stick. He holds it with his paws. It's really too much.

A fun Lilly Pulitzer planner gifted to me by my boyfriend's mom. It even came with event-themed stickers (you can bet I put a big ol' cake sticker on my birthday). This may be the thing to make me actually want to organize my life.

And finally, this crazy cool t-shirt blanket my mom made me from some of my sorority/Clemson shirts. She is amazingly creative (she's currently making curtains for my new apartment), and I'm SO lucky to have such an awesome mama!!

What is making you happy right now?
